Jerome eventually got hold of her number and asked Chai out on a date to Menlo Park where they got ramen and walked around the campus at night after

Little did they know that this was going to be the start of a long

and arduous 1+ year of long-distance relationship brought about by Covid

Jerome eventually had to go back Singapore and Chai went back to Seattle. Long-distance was tough. Jerome & Chai continually sent letters to each other to keep the relationship going.

With the marvels of modern-day technology, face-time, text, snapchat were all used to keep abreast of each other’s life and maintain the relationship; hoping to tide across however long Covid would last

With no end in sight, the relationship felt bleak at times with lockdowns, death tolls increasing everywhere and the inability to meet each other

2021 came round and news started spreading on the possibility of a Covid vaccine. It honestly felt too good to be true but that gave more strength for the two to continue their long-distance relationship

At the same time, Jerome had been plotting a way to get back to the US and realized that pursuing a graduate degree would be the fastest way. He applied to the University of Washington at hopes of moving to Seattle to be closer to her

Jerome was able to get a spot at UW and Singapore also started rolling out vaccinations. The stars have aligned
